Teaching Philosophy

Picture
It takes a special person to teach, someone that truly loves helping others. I enjoy working with children and love the excitement in their eyes when they learn something new.  An effective teacher takes on multiple roles.  In addition to simply teaching curriculum a teacher: encourages higher-level thinking, creates a safe environment, and nurtures all students.  I believe the achievement gap can be closed with a well-rounded teacher who incorporates all these elements.

Curriculum is very important and essential to the learning process.  However, the purpose of education is not only to enable students to become successful in the classroom, but also to teach them how to be responsible and positive contributors to society.  For students to become life-long learners, teachers need to emphasize that learning happens everywhere, every day and anytime. I believe that all students can become these lifelong learners.  Some students need to be shown more love and compassion to encourage and inspire learning.  My constant objective as an educator is to ensure every student reaches his or her full academic potential.
